The first son and oldest child of Muriel and Leonard Bones, Edgar had always been the quietest of the three Bones children. While he enjoyed reading, he wasn't the sort of boy who sat inside all day with a book. He ran around outside, he played games with the other children, but he was just much quieter than they were.
He turned eleven and received his Hogwarts letter, and was sent off to school. He was very excited to go - He was excited about learning history and being able to do magic and brew potions. Edgar had expected to be placed into either Hufflepuff, his father's house, or Gryffindor, his mother's house, so it was a bit of shock for him when he was placed into Ravenclaw. For the first few weeks of school, Edgar didn't speak to the other students -- It wasn't that he went out of his way to avoid them, he would say that the opportunity never really came up, but within the next few months, Edgar had made a few friends and found himself rather comfortable at Hogwarts.
Fully committed to obtaining all the knowledge he could and always eager to present what he had learned, Edgar's marks were impeccable throughout his Hogwarts career. His OWL and NEWT results were no different and Edgar managed to secure himself a job researching and developing spells and charms, specializing in countermeasures for Dark Magic. It was by working here that Edgar became close to one Leslie Poole, a witch he was frequently partnered with. Edgar had certainly known Leslie while he was at Hogwarts, or known of her to be precise. A former Gryffindor who had been in Edgar's year, Leslie Poole was the sort of girl everyone knew - popular, clever, and, in Edgar's opinion, absolutely beautiful. Leslie Poole was the sort of girl who never gave boys like Edgar a second glance and yet, she responded to his rather awkward advances and attempts at flirtation. Things progressed and Edgar fell in love with Leslie rather easily. After fifteen months, Edgar proposed to Leslie, who responded with a smile and "I can't believe it took you so long." He's actually still in a bit of state of disbelief because he can't believe she agreed to marry him. Their first son, Jeffrey, was born exactly six months, two weeks and four days after the wedding and the girls, fraternal twins Saffron and Rosalyn, followed two short years after. Jeff looked exactly like his mother and behaved exactly like his father while Saffie and Rosie, ironically, took after their father in looks and mother in temperament.
When contacted by Professor Dumbledore about the Order of the Phoenix, Edgar hesitated. With a wife and a child, he knew he'd be risking their lives as well, but ultimately decided that he'd rather fight for a world where they wouldn't be persecuted for their blood status. Edgar did the only thing he felt he could do to protect his family aside from wards around the house and told them nothing about the Order nor its activities. Leslie knew Edgar was involved in something and while she worried about him constantly, she was proud of him. Although she didn't know what exactly he was involved with, she had absolute trust in him that it was something worth being proud of.

Though softspoken, Edgar has a rather enigmatic personality, you just need to be patient for him to warm up to you before you're able to see it. Edgar is a sarcastic fellow with a dry sense of humor. He's incredibly deadpan with his responses which make people wonder whether or not he's actually serious, but those who are close to him know him well enough know that nearly everything he says is tongue-in-cheek. Though, there is always the downside that you can't really tell when he is or isn't being serious because he can say everything with such a straight face.
Extremely easy-going and level-headed, it takes a lot to get Edgar worked up and emotional, but he is strangely prone to frustration, especially when it comes to the war. He doesn't understand why people keep insisting on killing people, innocent people, just to prove to the world that they're special. If they want to be that special, they form a little club and go live on an island with special trees and special fish where they can talk about how special they are compared to the rest of the world. Besides, if they get rid of everyone else, they won't be special anymore, they'll be ordinary. Stupidity and illogic gets him angry and irritable, but he never really lets himself get into an actual argument with people. Instead, he makes sarcastic little quips and if they're clever enough to understand it, they will.

Nearly everything about Edgar's appearance is average. He's of average height and average build, with and carries himself with a sort of ease that doesn't make him stand out in a crowd, but doesn't make him disappear completely, either. He has boyish looks and charm, mostly contributed by his playful smile, but it helps that he hasn't aged much at all since he was younger. His hair is a soft, brown mop that hasn't changed a bit since he was six years old and his eyes are the same bright blue, with the exception of the slight crows feet that occur when he's smiling.
